Ekiti LG poll witnesses low turnout

The Ekiti Local Government election held across the 16 council areas of the state on Saturday witnessed a low turnout and was generally peaceful.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that apart from a lone incident of shooting said to have occurred at a polling unit in Ikere Ekiti, there was no confirmed report of violence.

Witnesses said the incident began at Okitiko area of Ikere Ekiti on Ise/Emure Ekiti road after political thugs reportedly tried to snatch the ballot boxes of votes already cast from officials of the Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC). Read more

Buratai inaugurates multi-million Naira projects in Depot, NMS

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, on Saturday commissioned series of projects worth millions of Naira at the Depot Nigerian Army and Nigeria Military School (NMS), Zaria.

Inaugurating the projects at the two institutions, the Army boss charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the facilities.

Confusion as OAU lecturer dies in his office

A popular lecturer of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), was reportedly found dead in his office on Saturday, December 7, 2019.

The deceased, Mr Nicholas Igbokwe of the Department of Physical and Health Education has thrown the Ile-Ife community into confusion.

According to a senior lecturer who pleaded anonymity in his Department, Igbokwe was seen in the faculty during the early morning hours without any traces of sickness, before the unfortunate incident happened. Read more

Group faults Falana for blaming Osinbajo, other lawyers in Buhari’s cabinet over DSS misconduct

Falana had indicted the Vice President and other lawyers in Buhari’s cabinet for not speaking up on DSS-Sowore Saga.

Veteran journalist and lawyer, Richard Akinola and a political group have faulted Femi Falana, SAN over comments that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) should discipline all lawyers in the Buhari administration because of the desecration of the law courts by officers of the DSS yesterday at a Federal High Court in Abuja.
